The 13-inch and 15-inch MacBook Air models with the M4 Chip were announced on March 5, 2025, and became available for purchase on March 12, 2025. These fanless laptops feature enhanced performance from the new M4 chip, a new 12MP Center Stage camera, and support for two external displays.
Key Features and Connectivity
Apple M4 Chip: The core of the new Air models is the M4 chip, featuring a powerful 10-core CPU, up to 10-core GPU, and a faster 16-core Neural Engine designed to accelerate AI-based tasks and power new features in macOS Sequoia with Apple Intelligence.
Enhanced Display Support: A key upgrade is the ability to support up to two external displays with up to 6K resolution at 60Hz simultaneously with the built-in display.
Upgraded Camera: The previous 1080p FaceTime HD camera has been upgraded to a 12MP Center Stage camera with support for Desk View.
Ports: Connectivity options include a dedicated MagSafe 3 charging port, two Thunderbolt 4 / USB 4 ports (USB-C connector), and a 3.5 mm headphone jack.
Wireless: Both models include faster Wi-Fi 6E (802.11ax) and Bluetooth 5.3.
Audio: The 15-inch model features a six-speaker sound system with force-canceling woofers, while the 13-inch model has a four-speaker system. Both support Spatial Audio with Dolby Atmos.
Battery Life: Apple estimates up to 18 hours of video playback or 15 hours of wireless web use.
Environment: The M4 MacBook Air features over 55 percent recycled content overall, the most in any Apple product.
